A remake of the Grigoriy Aleksandrov's "Volga-Volga", a postmodernist deconstruction of the legendary Soviet movie. Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe's head was "glued" to Lyubov Orlova's body, and now Monroe is re-acting the movie, making what was a musical about amateur artists into a tragedy – postwoman wants too much and, eventually, loses her mind. Sometime in the movie, the movie shifts to Antarctica from the Volga, where Monroe-Orlova is looking at the fascinating life of penguins.

Moscow surgeon Maksim Kuzovlev comes to a remote fishing village after being transferred to a new hospital. At the same time, handsome former soldier Petr Grabov returns home and moves to the same village to work as a fisherman. On Maxim's first day, Anya, a young and attractive nurse, catches his attention, and he falls in love with her instantly. While Anya is fond of Maxim, she begins to question her own feelings after meeting Petr one night at the hospital. Forced to choose between two very different men and resolve this ill-fated love triangle once and for all, Anya has a difficult decision to make, and it is one which will inevitably change their lives forever.

The five-part miniseries Volha is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Karel Hynia, written in an extraordinary, bizarre and precisely echoed language. It can be perceived as a peculiar history of Czechoslovak television with a number of incredible, albeit real, "stories from the set". At the same time, however, it is a portrait of its main character - a limited egocentric who excels in inventing small tricks and deceptions - how to steal petrol, fake mileage, cheat his wife, get rid of the competition. Logically, he then also becomes a StB collaborator (with the code name Volha) who informs on all his co-workers and passengers without any remorse.

Lieutenant Orloff, a recently graduated Russian officier, is making his way across the snow-covered steppes to the garrison where he is to be stationed. He comes across a man who has lost his way in the blizzard and takes him to the safety of an inn. Arriving at the garrison, Orloff meets and falls immediately in love with Macha, the daughter of his commander. The town is suddenly attacked by a hoard of bandits who claims to be the true Tsar of Russia.

В заброшенный поселок на берегу Волги приезжает молодой археолог Андрей, он занимается раскопками. В поселке остались только дед Роман, у которого Андрей останавливается, и семья Сергея, который живет тем, что тайком глушит рыбу и продает икру. Андрей сначала относится скептически к стараниям деда восстановить затопленную церковь. Он начинает ухаживать за женой Сергея — Людой, пытаясь легкой интрижкой скрасить свое времяпрепровождение. Но постепенно с Андреем начинают происходить изменения. Он начинает помогать деду восстанавливать церковь, и его ухаживания за Людой перерастают в серьезное чувство. Но Люда не одна, ее муж готов на все, чтобы расправиться с Андреем, да и сама Люда испытывает угрызения совести, ведь сын Сергея — Миша привязался к ней, как к родной матери…
